Hatchet 3 is the 2013 horror film in the Hatchet series. It is a story about Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.



The film's main strength is the use of real-world special effects. Unlike many modern horror movies which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

The cast gives a strong performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as the most intimidating villain. The dialogue is a bit snarky and tongue-in-cheek for it to be reminiscent of a classic '80s slasher movie at moments. There are instances of humor throughout the film that add humor to all bloody action.

However, due to the limited budget (reportedly just $1 million) most of the locations are repeats from earlier films in the series. The identical boat house was featured twice in the film and a lot of the film appears to be a re-use from previous films in the series. This can make it seem like it's all too familiar at times especially for people who've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2
